Natalia Grace Barnett Documentary Netflix

In 2010, an American family adopted a Ukrainian child orphan, but she was later revealed to be a “adult sociopath masquerading as a child.”

Natalia Grace, a six-year-old Ukrainian orphan, was adopted by Michael and Kristine Barnett of Indianapolis in 2010, but the pair quickly realised she was not what she looked.

Natalia, according to the Barnetts, terrorised them and intended to harm them and their biological children. Michael and Kristine are now divorced, and their experiences with Natalia have left them both devastated.

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, a new three-part true crime documentary series, is based on their bizarre ordeal.

The series delves into how Michael and Kristine took Natalia in before discovering her supposed true identity, only to have their lives turned upside down and their family and freedom threatened. Natalia Grace’s incredible genuine tale is told here.

Natalia Grace, a dwarf, was re-aged in 2012 by a judge who judged her to be a 22-year-old woman who had disguised as a kid while claiming to be a six-year-old orphan.

Natalia had threatened to stab their children while living with them, Michael claimed she tried to poison his Kristine, and his son Jake said he didn’t feel comfortable around her.

When Natalia became angry, Michael and Kristine were suspicious that she was only posing as a child – they also claimed that she didn’t grow in the years she resided with them, which even for a child with dwarfism would not be the case.

After successfully seeking to have Natalia’s birth date corrected in 2012, the Barnetts rented her an apartment in Indiana and left her there while they relocated to Canada in 2013, where Jake would begin college.

The parents were nonetheless prosecuted with child maltreatment in Indiana and fought the accusations, which were withdrawn in 2022 and early 2023 due to Natalia’s true age and the statute of limitations.

Natalia and her new adoptive parents went on Dr. Phil in 2019, when she denied being an adult. The Barnetts, on the other hand, claimed that she had periods, adult teeth, and was diagnosed by doctors with a mental health disorder that is often found in adults.
